The Bible is God's call to us...it's personal.
Of a study conducted in 2000, only 11% of people read the Bible daily. Only 18 % of professing Christians do.
God earnestly wants our souls, minds and strength. However (like Willard says) he will neither clamor nor compete for our attention.
Listen for the whisper of the Holy Spirit. We can better find it through devotional meditation...so that the Divine Truth will rise into our conscience.
Do NOT put the Lord to the test. Trust him instead.
My thoughts: How and when we are tested...I must do something hard and lonely. The Lord was tested by Satan during his 40 day fast...alone, vulnerable. Man does not live by bread alone (merely physical)...man needs hope, purpose, direction. Sooner or later, we're stuck with, and have to live with ourselves.
Lectio Divino (Divine Reading). Read Mark 8:1-10 three times. Listen for story and context. Listen for a specific word or phrase that resonates with you. Reflect and determine how the passage might impact your life right now. Try and sense the sights, sounds, smells and interactions of the passage.
