This morning we loaded up the "big rig" with all the essentials for a day on the beach. We had 3 surfboards, 3 beach chairs, one cooler, one canopy tent, one fishing pole with fittings and rigging, KT's beach bag and both kids. We hit the road around 8:30 and stopped by the coffee shop for breakfast. The kids ordered pastry and some such. I ordered a sausage and egg breakfast sandwich, an iced mocha, and a venti decaf, "regular with wheels" ( in Jersey that means "to go, with cream"). The kids ate the pastry while I waited for my sandwich. When it arrived they ate that too. No bother. We arrived at "American Beach" around 9:30. The surf was awesome. The temperature was just right. We all got burned. We had double meat sandwiches w/ dill pickle spears. A couple friends showed up and the dad caught and rode 3 waves. We left around 3:30. Everyone earned their dinner. Pass the aloe vera gel. A great day was had by all.
